He studied music in Germany and lived most of his life in Paris, where he died in 1929. Many of his compositions are based on Irish folk melodies such as his Petit trio celtique for violin, viola and cello, and his Sonata in Irish Style for violin and piano. The same Irish influence is obvious in his Trio, op. 54 for 2
