As opposition and sufferings increase, the Hebrew Christians are tempted to drop out of the Christian race. The author of the epistle to the Hebrews, however, calls on his readers not to quit. They must fix their eyes on Jesus, who for the joy set before him endured the cross (Heb. 12: 2). If Jesus endured the cross for them, surely they can endure persecution for him. P. G. Mathew
